FIFA released the World Cup schedule on Saturday that will feature 104 matches spread across 11 cities in the United States, with three in Mexico and two in Canada.

With teams like Portugal, Germany and the Netherlands scheduled to play in Houston next summer, fans are thrilled.

Heat has long been an issue at World Cups. The Qatar tournament in 2022 was played later in the year because of it. The last time the U.S. hosted a World Cup in 1994, games were mostly during the day. That was convenient for television viewers in Europe, but it made for some sweltering conditions in places like the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

The next chance to apply for World Cup tickets, including specific matches in North Texas, opens next week on Dec. 11.

Houston is one of the U.S. host cities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and fans across the region are waiting to learn which national teams will take the field there during the group stage.
